MSc thesis project proposal

Intelligent reflecting surfaces aided communication algorithms

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a two-dimensional array of passive reflecting elements which are individually programmable to introduce the desired amount of attenuation and phase shift to the incident signals. With appropriate control, IRS can reconfigure the effective wireless channel between the transmitter and receiver, offering improved data rates and reliability at lower hardware and operating energy costs.

Assignment

This project develops algorithms that jointly optimizes the end-to-end throughput of a communication system aided by IRS.

Requirements

For this project, we are looking for a master's student in either electrical engineering or any related study. Furthermore, we are looking for a student who has a background in signal processing, sensors, basic statistical techniques, data analysis, and programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or C/C++. Strong communication (written and verbal) skills in English are mandatory.
